How does Equelle work?

Hormone-free Equelle, a non-prescription dietary supplement with naturally derived S-equol, provides menopause symptom relief by helping to reduce the frequency of hot flashes, supporting sleep quality, reducing vaginal irritation, soreness and itching, and alleviating mood swings. S-equol works by mimicking some of the actions of estrogen by preferentially binding to estrogen receptor beta—helping to alleviate hot flash frequency and other symptoms associated with depleting estrogen levels during menopause.

What menopause symptoms does Equelle help with?

Equelle has been clinically validated to alleviate menopause symptoms, such as reducing the frequency of hot flashes, supporting sleep quality, alleviating mood swings, and reducing bothersome vaginal symptoms such as irritation, soreness and itching. In clinical studies, participants taking Equelle experienced reduced hot flash frequency starting as early as week 4, with about 5 fewer hot flashes per day at week 8 compared to baseline. After 12 weeks of taking Equelle participants slept 50 minutes more on an average per night vs. 16 minutes more with placebo.

Does Equelle increase Estrogen levels?

Taking Equelle does not impact estrogen levels. Although Equelle’s active ingredient, S-equol, mimics some of the same activities of estrogen by preferentially binding to estrogen receptor beta, Equelle is a hormone free dietary supplement and clinical research shows S-equol supplementation reduces the frequency of hot flashes, supports the quality of sleep, reduces bothersome vaginal symptoms like irritation, soreness and itching, and alleviates mood swings.

How is Equelle naturally derived?

What are the ingredients in Equelle?

The ingredients in Equelle are: Fermented Soy Germ (S-equol source), Cellulose Gel, Calcium Phosphate, Stearic Acid, Sorbitol, Silicon Dioxide, Sodium Silicate, Croscarmellose Sodium, Organic Coating (Tapioca Maltodextrin, Sunflower Lecithin, Palm Oil, Guar Gum).

The active ingredient in Equelle is S-equol, a naturally derived compound ofthe soy isoflavone daidzein that is produced through the fermentation of soy germ. The S-equol used in Equelle is developed using a patented fermentation process that simulates the specific gut conditions needed for certain bacteria to produce S-equol. This process starts by extracting a small amount of soy germ from the bean, which is then added to the fermentation conditions and produces a stabilized and concentrated form of S-equol.

Although daidzein can be consumed in dietary soy products, not everyone who consumes soy foods can produce S-equol. Individuals who can metabolize daidzein into S-equol may experience menopausal symptom relief, as S-equol is structurally similar to estrogen and mimics some, but not all, estrogenic activities.

Is the active ingredient in Equelle also found in foods?

The active ingredient in Equelle is S-equol. Trace amounts of S-equol are found in animal-based foods (i.e. dairy and egg products) due to the fact it’s produced by gut bacteria in animals. Richer food sources of S-equol include popular and traditional fermented tofu products in Taiwan known as chou-doufu. S-equol has also been added to some food bars in the US.

How much soy does Equelle contain?

During our fermentation process, only small trace amounts of soy compounds remain in the final Equelle product. These amounts are significantly less than those present in a single serving of most common soy foods (i.e. 1 oz of soybeans / 3 oz of tofu).

Does Equelle contain phytoestrogens?

Yes. Equelle's active ingredient, S-equol, is derived from soy germ, which is rich in soy isoflavones. Soy isoflavones share a similar structure to human estrogen, which classifies them a phytoestrogen or plant-based estrogen.
